“Common sense and a sense of humor are the same thing, moving at different speeds. A sense of humor is just common sense, dancing.”
One thing I have always had even in the midst of my darkest depression is a sense of humour. It usually is self-deprecating and never is it at the expense of another. I don't believe in making myself look bigger by belittling another. I like to laugh at myself. Life is too short to be taken seriously. My favourite of late is I don't get even I get odder. I like being odd. I like being unique. I am learning to like being me.
A friend suggested, no demanded, I write about my laugh. She said it is infectious. I do love a good belly laugh. You know the kind where you can't speak, your legs are crossed and your belly aches from laughing. I had some of those moments in hospital. They were wonderful and so very cathartic.
There are tonnes and tonnes of quotes about smiles. The one I have chosen is for me. To remember not to believe my own negative head talk and that sometimes criticism can be constructive.
“Don't mind criticism. If it is untrue, disregard it; if unfair, keep from irritation; if it is ignorant, smile; if it is justified it is not criticism, learn from it.”
Take care and keep on smiling
